Internet advertising spend has finally overtaken television advertising in the first half of 2009, a report from the IAB and PriceWaterhouse Coopers reveals. The advertising report, based on figures from the Advertising Association and WARC shows that Internet advertising is the only advertising sector to grow in the first half of 2009, reaching a total of £1,750,000,000 ad spend.
For me, the next big question is – when will mobile devices outstrip pc’s? At AdStorm… Continue

Yahoo! today announced a worldwide advertising campaign to coincide with the launch of its new home page. According to Elisa Steele, Yahoo!’s chief marketing officer, Yahoo! hopes to be where an individual’s world meets the larger World.
In theory Yahoo! is the most popular website in The World, but this does not seem to be reflected on the ground in the UK - where I don't think I know of anybody who actually uses Yahoo! At AdStorm Advertising Agency We manage… Continue

I have been lactose intolerant pretty much my entire life, along with the rest of my family through genetics I gather. As difficult as it is, home has always been the one place I don’t have to worry about my dietary restrictions. It’s been nice to have a place where I’m not the weird one for not being able to have any dairy. My symptoms have always been pretty bad but my younger brother has it the worst. A few years ago I saw something on the news about a product called lactagen. It was a 38 day… Continue

Big women needs not to look like a big pig clothed with small fitted dress, neither should they be a poor ugly Betty because of inappropriate wardrobe accented with details making them look like a big birthday balloon ready to be thrown upward. Wrong choice of clothes is similar to a… Continue
Tradition it can be considered. Every time a baby is about to reach his or her first birthday, we parents make ourselves busy, busy in preparing all necessary stuff to make the occasion grand and memorable as possible. We take a leave from work just to be present in the baby’s special day that sometimes we tend to be out of ourselves because of “hyper excitement”.
Part of the baby tradition is the giving of the gifts and yes that sounds exciting right? Seeing those big boxes in fancy covers, you… Continue

It's official...marketing mixers is on Twitter and has been now for over 24 hours...and I'm finally starting to understand what all the fuss is about. I've used Twitter for a while as personal user but I haven't pushed it on the professional front as I thought I'd examine how others were taking advantage of it first.
First Impressions
If nothing else, having a business presence on Twitter enables the world to find you on what is, a massive… Continue
Today T-Mobile filmed the next part of its 'Life's For Sharing' campaign in Trafalgar Square, London. As word quickly spread, thousands of people arrived to try to get their share of the lime light.
By all accounts, Trafalgar Square was turned in to a big karaoke party, with the crowd singing along to music from films such as The Blues Brothers and Grease and other classics such as 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart' by Bonnie Tyler.
There's a chance the ad may be turned around as quickly as this wee… Continue

ITV1 have decided to run an awareness campaign to differentiate themselves from their competitors with an advert called 'Sunshine'. The advert aims to articulate what ITV1 stands for - the most entertaining, upbeat, optimistic programming in the UK.
This first ad (available below) aims to remind people that ITV1 can provide them with a drop of sunshine. For me I'm not sure if they've missed the point though? I like the sentiment but a drop of sunshine isn't a lot when they could have surely dev… Continue

I've been a big fan of the Honda ads over the past few years and it was good to see them back to their bright and creative ways and hear the distinctive voice of Garrison Keillor.
The campaign aims to get more members of the public to be "do gooders" regarding the environment. See what you think of their TV ad here in this video:

There's been more talk this week of how Twitter should look to capitalise on it's new found market share in the social networking & micro-blogging space.
Biz Stone, co-founder of the 3 year old company has been quoted as saying that advertising is “not a good business model” for the microblogging website. Whilst he states there are “lots of great signs of potential business models” he reveals in an interview with US paper San Jose Mercury, that Twitter w… Continue

As we head towards the end of March, I'm very interested to hear how 2009 has gone for your company in a marketing sense so far? Have you found you are spending more or less money marketing your products/services? Have you made any surprising gains or loses in the different areas where you're spending money and have you capitalised on any free opportunities?
Clearly many companies are making severe cut-backs and even ceasing trading which is never a good thing to see. Business owners are having… Continue

"It's the brand you grew up with and we want to build on 100 years of heritage with a little help from you!"
It seems Woolworths could be returning to our lives but this time they're looking to dominate the online high street rather than the actual one. The hundred year old retailer that collapsed in December will soon be trading again after its brand name was bought by Shop Direct, Britains biggest home shopping retailer (who currently operate under brands such as Littlewoods… Continue

I was recently asked to help out with a client who wanted to store, access and possibly share documents online with his team. After looking at various solutions, we set-up a 'Google Apps' account so that he could benefit from having his email, calendar and documents all in the same place and, if he wanted, shared with his other users.
Depending how you feel about google, y… Continue

Welcome back to marketingmixers.com. Today we've launched some new changes to the design and moved forward with some recent features.
Most notably, the Directory section has now started to take shape (in structure) so if you would like to see your Marketing company listed then let me have the details. Secondly, a major branding decision has been taken as we move away from the old logo and move ahead with a simpler text based offering and cleaner feel to the website throughout as a result of the… Continue

An interesting facet about the BPO industry and call center outsourcing is that it is easy to see the services that you are using lag and become out of date, if you are not doing business with the right company. You have to ask yourself if your call center services are truly the best that they can be. Call centers that were considered state-of-the-art a decade ago could obviously be out of date now.
